Zidan
played his first preseason preparation match for Borussia
Dortmund versus Paderborn. He came on in the 2nd half
to take advantage of a defensive mixup and score the
2nd goal for Dortmund in the game in the 78th minute.
The game ended in a 0-2 win for Dortmund.
Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan returned
finally to Dortmund. He started preseason a couple of
weeks after his teammates because of the participation
in the Confederations cup and after playing in World
Cup qualifiers for Egypt.
The striker missed the first training
camp but he played the friendly match against Paderborn.
Zizou didn't start the game but he came on in the 2nd
half and did well.
Zidan was involved in more than one key
attempt for Dortmund. He also scored the 2nd goal for
his team in the 78th minute which came after a defensive
mix-up between the defense and the goalkeeper.
Dortmund took the lead in the first half
from Rangelov's well placed header. The match was even
though and Paderborn looked very dangerous in their
attacks which forced Dortmund goalkeeper to make some
world class saves to keep a clean sheet.
In the 2nd half, Zidan came on to give Paderborn defenders
headache with his skillful silky moves. He scored his goal
when he received the ball from a defender who sent the ball
to him by mistake, Zizou raced clear behind the defense and
took advantage of a poor dive by the goalkeeper to round him
and score the goal.
It should be noted that Dortmund preseason will
be a busy one as they will face Gamal Hamza's Mainz in another
friendly. They will also participate in a friendly tournament
with Udinese and Valencia before facing Real Madrid with their
full cast of stars in the celebration of Dortmund's anniversary.
