Mohamed Zidan's Dortmund lost their away
match with Wolfsburg by three goals without reply. Dortmund
failed to extend their recent run of good results and
deserved their defeat as the homeside showed total domination
throughout the game. Zidan started the game on bench
and came on to replace Valdez in the 67th minute but
he didn't offer much as a few minute after he came on,
the other substitute Prince-Bwas shown the red card
and Dortmund resumed the game with 10 men on the pitch.
Tonight's clash between Wolfsburg and
Dortmund marked an end to Dortmund's wining steak. They
couldn't match the homeside who had more desire to win
to keep challenging for their first Bundesliga title
in the club history.
Despite having a couple of chances early on, Dortmund
conceded an early goal by Dzeko in the 15th minute.
The situation got worse in the 2nd half as Grafite
scored in the 47th minute after receiving a through
pass which made him one on one with the keeper to make
the score 2-0 for the home side.
In the 67th minute, Klopp decided to replace Valdez
with Mohamed Zidan in order to try to get back into
the game. However, the other sub Prince Boateng received
a straight red card after kicking one of Wolfsburg players
and so, the guests had to resume the game with a man
down.
Zidan had little to do but he sent a clever cross to Frei
who sent it home from a narrow angle. However, this goal was
ruled out for offside by the referee's assistant.
Dortmund continued their pressure despite their numerical
shortage which resulted in many gaps in their defense. As
a result, talented Brazilian forward Grafite managed to dribble
past Subotic and laid the ball well to Dzeko who was left
with a simple finish to make the final score 3-0.
