Zidan came on in the 77th minute to face
his older club HSV. The 27 year old came on while Dortmund
were leading by a goal and he made a positive impact
as he provided a key pass to Boateng who was fouled
inside the box and won a penalty kick for his side,
from which they doubled the lead.
Dortmund achieved their 5th consecutive
win in the Bundesliga as they managed to defeat the
former club of Mohamed Zidan by two goals to nil.
Dortmund lost the first leg match at HSV's
home turf but they managed to win today convincingly
as they dominated the game from start to end.
Mohamed Zidan started the game on bench
but he came on with 13 minutes left to replace Nelson
Valdez.
The first half ended in a 1-0 lead for
Dortmund as Kehl buried the ball directly after a long
through pass was played to him, he was in the clear
behind the defense and sent the ball home through the
keeper's legs to give Dortmund the lead.
HSV didn't look dangerous except through
Guerrero who had more than half chance to score. The
best chance for him came in the 2nd half after a mistake
by Dortmund's keeper but Guerrero's header hit the bar
and bounced clear.
In the 77th minute, Zidan replaced Valdez and made a positive
impact despite giving away possession a couple of times immediately
after coming on. Zidan's close control and first touch helped
his side to win a couple of freekick's and he also sent a
key pass to Boateng who advanced into the box and was fouled
to leave the referee without any options but to point to the
spot.
With Frei on the field, Zidan didn't take the
penalty kick and the taker was the Swiss international who
coolly buried the ball home to double the lead for Dortmund
and grant them another precious three points on the way to
European qualification.
With Dortmund looking in a good form with Frei
and Valdez as the starting attacking duo, it won't be surprising
to see Zidan on bench in the remaining games of the season
unless suspension or injury prevents one of the two strikers
from starting.
