Dortmund's second half performance and their ability to come back into the game versus a superior Schalke 04 side was inspired by the gifted Egyptian footballer Mohamed Zidan.

Zizou showed his class by scoring an important goal in the final minutes. He also almost did the impossible by scoring the winning goal. However, a fine save by the keeper and the speed of the central defender Jones meant otherwise.

Zidan received alot of praise by his teammates and coach. Media in Germany also described Zidan as the man of the hard times since he scored some imortant goals in the final minutes throughout his carrer in Germany.

One of these important goals was his equalizer versus Bayern Munch when he was an ISV player last season. He also helped Dortmund achieve an away draw with his former club Werder Bremen by scoring another late goal. Lastly, his performance and goal on Friday night proved that the Egyptian forward is a player who enjoys the big matches and difficult times.

Dortmund played well in the 2nd half thanks to the introduction of Zidan who was almost unstoppable in the attacking triangle (Valdez at front with Zidan and Hajnal behind him). Zidan stole the ball from the last man using his pace and almost scored after getting into one on one situation with the keeper. However, the defender Jones made a life saving tackle to deny Zidan from scoring.

"If any other player than Jones would have followed him, he would have already scored then," said Klopp.

The Egyptian succeeded in putting Dortmund back on track five minutes later by scoring a fine goal which reflected his skills and ability to beat his man in narrow spaces. Zidan also was about to make the impossible and score again when his strike in the 85th minute was diverted for a corner by Schalke keeper Neuer.

The comments from the club president and players reflected the importance of Zizou's goal as well:

"Our team showed fighting spirit and even when they were behind, they never lost their believe in earning some points in front of 60.000 spectators," said a pleased BVB president.

"We return home with the feeling of securing a hard-fought draw," said Owomoyela. "Of course this point feels better than the one last week against Cottbus - but in the end it´s only a point. We really struggled in the first half. But due to our second-half performance, it´s a good result." And he added: "The trend is in the right direction!"
