Mohamed Zidan started for Dortmund in their Bundesliga home match versus Bayer Leverkusen. The game ended in a 1-1 draw as Frei scored for Dortmund in the first half while Leverkusen replied with a goal in the 2nd. In the first half Zidan looked in a fine shape with his touches and flicks but his performance faded with time and he was replaced by Valdez in the 70th minute.

Dortmund failed to defend their lead once again as they allowed Leverkusen to come back into the game in the 2nd half. Just a few days ago, Zidan's Dortmund took the lead in the cup through Frei but they conceded a couple of goals in the 2nd half to end their cup campaign early on.

Today, they faced Leverkusen in the league and scored in the first half through Frei. However, the second half performance was once again very poor and allowed the oppoents to come back into the game to end the match in a 1-1 draw.

Zidan played from the start alongside Frei. While he wasn't at his best, he played some good direct passes and flick ons especially in the first half. In the 2nd half, Zidan didin't offer much and was replaced in the 70th mniute with Valdez.
