Mohamed Zidan returned to Dortmund's main
selection in their home match versus Bochum. Dortmund
went behind by a goal which came through a long range
volley shot in the 27th minute. However, Zidan broke
the offside trap and scored just one minute before he
half time whistle as he received a long through pass
and sent the ball home with his left. Despite Zidan's
equalizer, BVB continued to waste chances in the 2nd
half and couldn't score the much needed winner to end
the game in a disappointing 1-1 home draw.
Egyptian forward Mohamed Zidan played
a full match for Dortmund in their home clash with Bochum.
Zidan managed to level the score for his side a minute
before half time but his side failed to score from the
numerous chances that they got in the 2nd half.
Jurgen klopp gave Zidan the chance together
with Alexander Frei at front while Nelson Valdez sat
on bench. Zidan performed very well in the game, he
linked up well with his teammates, was unselfish and
even won some headers for his side.
In the 27th minute of the game, Zdebel
volleyed a shot home from outside the box to give Bochum
the lead against the run of play. After the goal, BVB
tried desperately to come back into the game and they
achieved thier goal in the 44th minute through Zidan.
The Egyptian was onside to receive a long through pass
as the Algerian centre back Antar Yahia was covering.
Zidan controlled the ball with a neat first touch and
sent it home with his left to make the score 1-1 just
before half time.
While heading to the tunnel, Zidan exchanged his shirt with
his former teammate at Mainz Memon Azaouagh who is currently
playing for Bochum.
In the 2nd half, Dortmund had numerous chances
to win the game. However, the finishing was very poor from
the BVB side. Klopp introduced Valdez at expense of underperforming
Frei while he kept Zidan on the pitch but this change didn't
help with the result as Dortmund continued to waste the chance
after the other till the final whistle.
Zidan played well in the 2nd half. He wasn't
able to extend his tally but he created chances for his teammmates
and was a constant threat to Bochum's defense with his pace
and flair.
