Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan made his
debut for Dortmund in theirtough home clash with Bayern
Munich. Zidan partnered with Nelson Valdez in attack
and played for 64 minutes. After he came off, ten men
Bayern equalized through Tim Borowski to end the game
in a 1-1 draw.
Dortmund were on verge of ending the 2nd week on top
of the table if they managed to defend their lead versus
the star Studdied Bayern Munich side.
Zidan did reasonably well on his debut. He made a nice
feint early on before his shot was blocked off a defender.
The Egyptian also set Valdez in front of goal but the
later sent the ball wide from the edge of the box.
Zidan was a bit lightweight in the game, he appeared
to be having hard time to cope with the pressure from
Bayern players. However, he showed some nice touches
overall. Another problem with Zidan was his lack of
off the ball movement to free up a space for himself
and get the ball. The Egyptian was rarely picked by
his teammates for the pass for that reason as he didn't
move to free spaces often.
Apart from Zidan's performance, Dortmund played a very good
game especially in the first half in which they scored their
goal which came through Blaszczykowski who scored from a great
volley in the 9th minute.
In the 23rd minute, Mark Van Bommel was shown a 2nd yellow
card and the Bavarians had to resume the game with ten men
on the field.
Despite playing with a one man down, the substitute Tim Borowski
managed to level the score for his side ten minutes after
Zidan's exit to end the game in a 1-1 home draw.
