The tough away clash between Bayern Munich
and Hamburg ended in a 2-2 draw. Zidan started and remained
on bench. The home side took the lead first through
Schweinsteiger while Podolski added the 2nd from a penalty
kick. On the other side, Guerrero pulled one back for
Hamburg in the first half while Trochowski equalized
from another penalty kick for HSV.

Zidan's HSV achieved a good result on the first day
of Bundesliga as they won a point from their away clash
with last season's champions Bayern Munich.
Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan remained as unused substitute
for the whole ninety minutes. Jol thought of bringing
the Egyptian on while the score was 2-1 but as HSV equalized,
the Dutch manager kept Zizou on bench and kept the attacking
duo, Guerrero and Olic on the pitch.
The match was even but Hamburg looked more dangerous
than the Bavarians overall. Despite the early pressure
from Hamburg, the homeside took the lead through Schweinsteiger
in the 12th minute who fired a direct shot into the
back of the net after a fine cross by Ze Roberto.
Four minutes later, Schweinsteiger was brought down
in the area by Matijsen and the referee pointed to the
spot. The penalty kick was converted by Podolski to
make the score 2-0 for Bayern Munich after just 16 minutes
from the kick off.
While many would have thought that HSV will drop their
heads after conceding two goals early on, they proved
everyone wrong as Guerrero headed home in the 25th minute
after a cross by Trochowski from the right wing.

In the 2nd half, HSV were obviously the better side as they
constantly put Bayern Munich players under pressure and were
able to tie the score from a penalty kick in the 56th minute
which was converted by Trochowski.
After the 2nd goal, Martin Jol decided to keep things as
it is and didn't bring Zidan on and the score remained 2-2
till the final whistle.
It should be noted that Martin Jol spoke on Zidan briefly
on the official website of HSV ahead of tonight's match. He
claimed that Zidan should concentrate more on football if
he wants to stay at Hamburg which is a pretty vague statement
from the Dutch man. Jol also claimed that he knows enough
about Egyptian players' mentality after dealing with Mido
and Ghaly when he was the coach at Spurs.
As seen from the happenings tonight and from Jol's Vague
comments on Zidan, we can safely say that the Egyptian will
not start unless either Guerrero or Olic are unavailable to
play.
