HSV managed to stay in the lead till the 52nd minute when Ljuboja equalized from a deflected shot.

After the goal, Stevens brought Olic on to replace Trochowski who wasn't too happy with his substitution and headed directly to the dressing room.

The coach also brought Kompany on in place of Jarolim and the manager already replaced the injured Benjamin with Aouba so Zidan remained on bench.

In the 80th minute, Wolfsburg's player Madlung received a second yellow card and the homeside had to continue the game with 10 men. However, HSV couldn't take advantage and a few minutes later, Kompany was shown a couple of yellow cards too and both sides became a man down.
