Zidan's HSV failed to advance to UEFA cup quarter finals despite their 3-2 home win over Leverkusen who advanced instead with away goals advantage. Zidan wasn't selected for the game due to muscle strain which prevented him from playing against Nuremberg as well.

Zidan didn't play because of injury

Egyptians are out of UEFA cup as Hamburg failed to advance to quarrter finals while Anderlecht will have an impossible mission in Munich in order to advance.

After losing 1-0 to Leverkusen, HSV needed to win by two goals or more and the last thing they wanted is to concede goals.

However, Leverkusen amanaged to score two away goals in the 2nd leg and despite the 3-2 win by HSV, away goals meant Leverkusen qualification.

Zidan missed the game due to injury. The Egyptian is suffering from muscle strain which he suffered during training on Saturday. The injury is expected to keep Zizou out of action for around a week but he will hopefully be back to action next weekend.

The game started with pressure from HSV who wanted an early goal to revive their qualification hopes. The homeside got two real chance early on but both were squandered.

The first chance came through Guerrero who received a through pass and advanced on the goalkeeper but hit the body of the keeper and the ball fell to Olic who oddly sent it wide.
