The big clash between Bayern Munich and Hamburger SV ended in a 1-1 draw. Both sides fought hard to win in this even contest and both had their chances.

From Bayern, Italian striker Luca Toni was the source of all danger while Miroslav Klose didn't look in a very good shape. On the other side, Hamburg played with their regular formation with Guerrero as the lone striker while Jarolim, Trochoveski and Olic assisted in attack.

The first half didn't witness many chances. However, Bayern were close to score twice. The first chance came through a header by Luca Toni after a fine cross by Halil Altintop but the header went just wide. In the 2nd chance for the Bavarians, Ze Roberto controlled the ball just outside the box and attempted a low drive but the ball was deflected off a defender and went narrowly wide.

In the 2nd half, particularly on the hour mark, HSV took advantage of a defensive error by Brazilian centre back Lucio who was dispossessed by Jarolim in front of his penalty area, the latter spotted Olic in a good position in front of goal and sent the ball on the floor to him and Olic buried it home to give HSV the lead.

After the goal, all Bayern players pushed forward and the pressure paid off as Ze Roberto pulled level in the 66th minute when he slotted the ball home with his left after a low cross from the right side of the box.

HSV manager Hub Stevens made a couple of changes in the final minutes to help his side benefit from the counter attacks so he brought Van der Vaart on to replace Olic and Zidan in place of Guerrero.

While Van der Vaart couldn't make an impact because of Bayern pressure, Zizou looked impressive and took advantage of the big gap in the Bavarians defense. Zidan won the ball from Van Buyten in a challenge similar to his challenge with Song but this time, Van Buyten pulled Zidan from his shirt and the match referee didn't award the Egyptian a freekick.

Later on. Zidan won a throw-in after a duel with Dutch international midfielder Van Bommel. The Egyptian tried to get the ball from Bommel but he wasn't happy with the decision of the match referee and kept holding the ball. As a result, the match referee booked the Bayern midfielder who reacted in an unacceptable manner to the decision and deserved a second yellow card.

The few minutes that Zizou played showed that the Egyptian deserved more play time especially in the second half as HSV pushed men forward and left gaps in their defense and Zidan is the bbest player on HSV side to take advantage of counter attacks because of his speed and skills.

With this result, Bayern remained 1st in the table while HSV remained in the 3rd spot.
