Little time for Zidan to make an impact

According to prematch expectations, Zidan was going to start versus Rostock in the left wing while Olic plays the role of the main striker. However, Stevens decided to start with Trochoveski instead of Zidan in the left wing while Castelen played the role of the right winger and Van der vaart played in his regular position as a support man.

The match was one sided most of the time and HSV won comfortably as Hansa Rostock didn't have the quality to cause much danger.

HSV managed to take the lead through Van der Vaart who scored after receiving a low through pass from his compatriot Romeo Castelen. Vaart sent the ball home into the far corner with his right to give HSV the lead.

In the 2nd half, HSV added their second goal through Olic who headed home after a fine cross from the left wing by Trochoveski.

In the 77th minute, Stevens decided to rest his keyplayer Olic and so, Zidan came on to replace the Croatian international. Zidan looked hungry to play and score and did well with movement and passing but a few minutes per game are certainly not enough for him to make a real impact.

A few minutes later, Vaart also came off and was replaced by Choupo-Moting and the score remained 2-0 till the match referee blew the final whistle.

With this important win, HSV continued chasing Bayern Munich for the top spot in the Bundesliga table.
