HSV suffered another defeat away from
home as they lost to Frankfurt by two goals to one.
Mohamed Zidan played the game from the start after recovering
from the injury that he suffered versus Bayern Munich
and resulted in withdrawing him from the Egyptian national
team squad that faced Burundi last week.
The game also witnessed the return of
the team captain and playmaker Rafael Van der Vaart.
Zizou was once again the lone striker while Van der
Vaart played the role of the support man. On the wings,
both Castelen and Olic started the game as right and
left wingers.
HSV had a better start than Frankfurt
but some sloppy man marking from the full back Atouba
allowed a Frankfurt forward to advance with the ball
in the right wing after a fine long through pass played
to him. The ball was then crossed low to find Meier
in front of goal and the latter placed it confidently
into the bottom corner to make the score 1-0.
The match remained even from both sides
after the goal. Zidan didn't get much support from his
teammates as usual and had to rely on himself in getting
forward.

In the 2nd half, things didn't change much and Stevens made
some changes in his selection to increase the attacking options.
Stevens took Zidan off in the 60th minute and Choupo-Moting
came on to replace him, he also introduced Guerrero later
on in the 2nd half.
In the 82nd min. The match referee awarded HSV
a disputed penalty kick after a shot from Van der Vaart at
goal. The HSV captain converted the penalty as he shot it
low to strike the hand of the goalkeeper and go in to make
the score 1-1.
A few minutes later, the man of the match Meier
added his second goal in the game from a superb volley shot
from the edge of the box after a poor clearenace from the
HSV defense. The goal was the winning goal for Frankfurt as
it came just a couple of minutes before the final whistle.
More on Zidan soon...
