Luck turned its face away from
Zidan in the home clash with Leverkusen which ended
in a 1-0 win for Zizou's side. Zidan had two great shots
on goal and both were denied by the bar and the post.
In the 2nd match day of the Bundesliga,
Mohamed Zidan's HSV faced Bayern Leverkusen at home
and managed to win by a single goal which came through
a penalty kick.
Victory didn't come easy as Zizou's HSV
couldn't penetrate the tight defenses of Leverkusen
easily and couldn't score from open play.
Zidan was the most unlucky player on the
pitch as he was denied twice by the bar and post. Zizou
almost scored right after the kick off from a bullet
drive at goal but the ball struck the bar and bounced
back to play. In the 2nd half, the Egyptian received
a through pass by Castelen and fired a shot that was
going to be a goal but the post denied him this time.
Despite the two great chances, Zidan't
performance wasn't the best especially in the 2nd part
of the first half. The Egyptian started well and hit
the bar and had a few decent touches then faded quickly.
Zizou gave the ball away far too cheaply in some occasions
and his passes and one on one skills wasn't very good
in that game. Apart from this, the Egyptian did better
in the 2nd half till he was replaced.
HSV's best players on the field were Van
der Vaart who scored the only goal in the 2nd half from
a penalty kick after a handball inside the box. New
signing Romeo Castelen also appeared solid throughout
the match with his pace, balance and passing.
Zizou's replacement was Guerrero and the latter is a better
header than Zizou. He took benefit from Casstelen and Vaart's
crosses in a couple of occasions and almost scored with his
head but his first attempt was parried by the goalkeeper while
the 2nd went just wide.
Leverkusen were solid on defense and had very
few attacks, they got a real chance from a header that was
denied by the bar just after HSV scored their only goal.
This win put HSV 2nd in the table with perfect
record (6 points from two games) while Bayern Munich remained
on top with their superior goal difference.
