In a boring game, HSV drew goal-less in
their away UEFA cup clash with Honved. The Hungarian
side didn't let Zizou and his teammates play freely
as they narrowed the gaps in their defense and put HSV
players under constant pressure. Zizou couldn't shine
because of this and was taken off in the 66th minute.
Hamburg achieved a good result in their
away clash with Honved in the away first leg match as
they drew 0-0 with the Hungarian side.
The match was dull and free from good
football as the homeside closed all the gaps in front
of goal and used harsh hatcking excessively to spoil
HSV's attacks.
Zidan couldn't do much under such heavy
marking and narrow spaces. He only had a few goos touches
and flick-ons but had nothing on goal. The Egyptian
also lacked support from his teammates and was isolated
alone at front most of the time. Zizou also had to get
back to receive the ball in absence of van der Vaart
and so, he couldn't get into goalscoring positions.
From HSV, the new signing Romeo Castelen
was on top form and his runs caused alot of headache
to Honved defenders. Rather than that, HSV didn't show
any attractive footbal throughout the game.
Honved weren't any better as they were
content to play in their own half most of the time,
they got a few chances though but didn't manage to score.
Zidan came off in the 66th minute and was replaced by the
Peruvian Guerrero who had a real chance from a one on one
situation with the keeper near the end but the goalkeeper
saved his shot.
With this draw, any win for HSV at their home
in the 2nd leg will be enough for them to advance to the next
round.
