Good game for Zidan but no goals

Mohamed Zidan started in the 2nd leg match of the Inter-Toto cup 3rd round against Dacia Chisinau. The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw and so, a 0-0 draw would be enough for HSV to advance to the qualifying phase of the UEFA cup.

The first half ended in a 0-0 draw as Dacia closed the gaps and didn't let HSV create many chances. Zidan did very well in this half and had a chance from a volley shot but the keeper made a good save.

However, the second half was a different story as HSV managed to score in the 49th minute from a corner kick. Van der Varrt crossed the ball high into the area to find Kompany who met the ball on the volley with his right and sent it superbly into the far corner leaving the goal keeper with no chance at all.

The 2nd goal for HSV vcame in the 71st minute through Van der Vaart who met a cross from the left wing with his head to double the score for HSV.

Zidan couldn't score any goals though as the harmony between him and Van der Vaart and Olic wasn't at best. He didok with flick-ons but often played on the left flank which made it hard for him to score. The Egyptian was also caught offside a few times.

The Egyptian had a chance to score when Van der Vaart crossed the ball high to him inside the box, but Zidan totally missed his header and the chance went begging.

Zizou also tried to go by himself in one or two occasions but the wet pitch and the tight defending from Dacia made it hard for the Egyptian to make a break through.

In the 74th minute, Hub Stevens decided to take Zidan off and replaced him with Choupo-Moting who was better suited for this game as the youngster is stronger than Zidan, and better in the air.

The introduction of Choupo-Moting helped HSV add more goals as Benjamin scored after a fine one-two in the box with Van der Vaart.

Just a minute before the final whistle, Choupo-Moting did well to dribble past two ddefenders inside the box, he powered a shot from narrow angle that was parried by the keeper but it fell to Jarolim who sent it home to make the score 4-0 for the home side.

It should be noted that HSV will have a big game ahead against Juventus on the first of August and Zizou will hopefully start that friendly match..
