The second day of the Austria training camp saw the Hamburg players undergo different running trainings, and most attention was paid to new signing Mohamed Zidan.

Zizou is still taking step by step training after his operation and is doing so at a more individual level.

"We will lead Mohamed slowly back to squad training soon," said fitness trainer Markus Guenther, who supervises Zidan's development.

"The plan is for Mohamed Zidan to complete all his running training and then be blended with the squad training, gradually."

Zidan - the new number 7 - also trains with Markus Guenther in individual training sessions, so that he remains in a similar physical condition to the other HSV players. At the moment, this means hard work.

"I felt the load of the last training days a little already, but it is not too bad," explains Zidan, who is pleased with his progress.

"I feel like it is getting better every day."

During the week, it is expected that Zidan begins to train with the ball in match situations. With the present progress, he may be allowed a little more. "Perhaps Mohamed can be used for a few minutes in the friendly matches at the end of the week," hopes coach Huub Stevens.

He adds, however: "We have patience, the health of the player comes first."

The latest date for Zizou's return is the Inter-toto Cup, for which he is expected to be fully fit.
