Hamburg SV are thought to be the closest
team to signing Mohamed Zidan, though EgyptianPlayers.com
understand that they have gone no further than making
an offer to Mainz for the striker.
Hamburg had a disappointing Bundesliga season in which
they finished 7th and are looking to challenge for the
title next season. Their strong striker's list of Ivica
Olic, Boubacar Sanogo and Paolo Guerrero may be developed
even further should they manage to sign Mohamed Zidan.
The Egyptian has been linked with the club since Mainz's
struggle, and the club has now admitted keen interest
in snapping Zizou up.
The sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer has said
that HSV are working hard to secure Zidan's services,
though they are being rivalled by a number of other
league outfits. He hinted that buying Zidan remains
one of the top priorities in the coming period.
Interest is piling up in the attacker, with Spanish La Liga
sides Deportivo La Coruna and Osasuna showing an interest,
as well Mazhar Abdel-Rahman's former club AS Monaco and
Mido's former club Olympique de Marseille.
On Tuesday Zidan had revealed to EP that he has interest
from nine European leagues, including the English Premiership
and the Dutch Eredivisie.
