Mohamed Zidan's Mainz couldn't achieve the unexpected as they lost by two goals to nil to the stronger Stuttgart. Zidan played the full match and tried to score through his individual skills. Zizou had a shot denied by the keeper in the first half and near the end, he fired a bullet drive at goal that was saved by the keeper as well.

Another frustrating day for Zidan

Mainz failed to win their away match versus Stuttgart. They simply didn't have what it takes to win any points from a side that is competing for the title.

At the end of day, Mainz lost by two goals to nil and almost lost their hope to avoid relegation. Zidan's side now need a miracle which is unlikely to happen and their relegation seems fair as they couldn't win any of their last seven matches.

Zidan put in much effort to help his struggling side, but a player or two can't change the results of the whole team and if they do, they can't do that everytime.

The match was one way traffic as Stuttgart needed to win to keep chasing Schalke for the Bundesliga title. They applied their pressure on Mainz from the star while the guests relied only on Zidan at front.

The Egyptian had a decent attempt on goal early on when he controlled the ball well and outpaced his marker, then he shiot the ball low at goal. However, the goalkeeper made a good save.

A few minutes later, particularly in the 25th minute, Meira scored the first goal for Stuttgart from a low shot from the edge of the box, the shot wasn't powerful by any mean but it the goalkeeper of Mainz couldn't stop it and the guests became behind by a goal.

In the 2nd half, the situation didn't change and Stuttgart even added their 2nd in the 64th minute through Hilbert who scored from one on one situation with the goalkeeper after a fine through pass.

Mainz had two chances in this half but both came to nothing. The first came through Soto who received a through pass inside the box and faced the keeper but he was blocked before shooting the ball. While the 2nd chance came in stoppage time when Zidan received the ball at the edge of the box and sent a powerful fine shot at goal but the goalkeeper made a fingertip save and cleared the ball away for a corner.
