Mohamed Zidan scored another goal but it wasn't enough for Mainz who lost at home to Hannover and got another step closer to relegation.

Zidan's goal is his 13th this season which put him 5th in the topscorers list in the Bundesliga. Zizou is now ahead of all Werder Bremen stars Diego and Klose while he only regularly in the 2nd half of season.

Mainz didn't deserve to emerge victorious from the match as they couldn't go forward enough and let their opponents score two easy goals in their net.

Hannover on the other side, used their counter attacks quite well and didn't give Zidan much space to cause danger. However, the Egyptian used his special skills to penetrate the guests defenses three times throughout the game.

Zidan wasn't lucky with his finish. He showed determination and skills but his final touch was always missing in the three real chances that he had. Zizou's teammates weren't better with their final finish as well as Gerber missed a setter in the first half while Pekovic hit the bar in the stoppage time.

Mainz started the match with 4-4-2 formation with Zidan and Ruman at front. Klopp needed the win so he didn't play Zidan alone at front and introduced Ruman to play alongside the Egyptian.

Despite this, Mainz couldn't control the midfield and Hannover looked more organized in their attacks.

Zizou's first chance came from a counter attack which was started by Azaouagh who sent a long through pass into the direction of Zidan, the Egyptian controlled his ball well and tried to fire it into the top corner in a similar fashion to his amazing goal versus Hamburg. However. Zidan couldn't direct his shoot well this time and it missed the target.

In the 24th minute, Bruggink scored the first goal for Hannover after some poor defending from the Mainz side who let Rosenthal advance with the ball into the right side of the box and pass it on the floor to the totally unmarked Bruggink who buried it home with his right to make the score 0-1.

After the goal, Mainz tried to come back into the game but they couldn't create many chances. They got a chance to level the score through Gerber who had a chance to shoot on the volley from inside the box but he missed the target.

Zidan also had a great chance to score from a brilliant solo effort when he dribbled past three Hannover players before firing the ball high above the crossbar. Zidan could have done better with his finish but he opted for the spectacular and tried a powerful shot into top corner instead of burying the ball gently home. Still, it was a magical piece of skill from the Egyptian who was almost on his own in the entire half.

In the 2nd half, Mainz continued to disappoint as they had a shaky start as they let Hannover approach their goal twice. The first time was luckily cleared but the 2nd resulted in another goal which came through Yankov who scored from a counter attacking move.

Zidan in tears

Zidan had a great chance to score a few minutes after this goal when he advanced with the ball behind the defense, dribbled past the keeper and tried to bury the ball home, but the last tough was once more lacking and he hit the side netting instead.

In the 81st minute, Zidan scored the only goal for Mainz when Pekovic penetrated through the Hannover defense, faced the keeper and unselfishly sent the ball on the floor to Zidan who scored with ease to make the score 1-2.

In the dying moments of the game, the substitute Jovanovic headed the ball at goal but it was denied by the bar and the game ended in a 1-2 defeat.

The situation now is very critical for Mainz as they'll unlikely avoid relegation this season. They still have three matches to play but two of them are away fixtures against Bayern Munich and Stuttgart.

More on Zidan and Mainz soon..
