Mohamed Zidan continued to impress in
the Bundesliga as he scored twice versus Wolfsburg and
almost won the match for his side. However Marcelinho
scored from two strikes from outside the box to end
the game in another loss for Mainz who became 17th in
the table after this defeat.
Zidan was once again amongst the starting
elven of the struggling side. He started well but suffered
an injury in the 10th minute and was carried on a streture.
The Egyptian appeared in much pain and almost got substituted.
Furtunately, the injury wasn't serious and he was able
to carry on.
Zidan's first goal came from a penalty
kick in the 21st minute. The referee pointed to the
spot without hesitation after one of Mainz players got
elbowed in the face inside the area. Zidan scored from
the spot confidently as he sent the ball powerfully
home into the corner. The Egyptian received a yellow
card after the goal as he took off his shirt while celebrating
his goal.
After the goal, Mainz were content to
play in their own half and Zidan didn't get enough support
to cause danger. The homeside had a chance to lelel
the score immediately after the goal from a volley shot
but the bar denied the attempt.
Four minutes before half time, Wolfsbug
managed to equalize through Klimowiczwho scored from
a diving header.

In the 2nd half, Wolfsburg remained the better side as Mainz
couldn't have much possession because of the pressing from
Wolfsburg players.
Despite this and from one of the rare attacks
of Mainz, Zidan scored a beautiful goal to give his side
the lead. The goal came from a well organized attack which
was started by Gerber who found Andreasen with a fine through
pass, the latter tried to bury the ball home but the goalkeeper
blocked it to find Zidan who met it directly with a superb
volley shot to score the 2nd for Mainz.
Zidan's efforts could end the game in a victory
over Wolfsburg but his teammates couldn't do well in defense
and let Marcelinho shoot from outside the box to score the
equalizer just a few minutes after Zizou's goal.
The frustration continued for Mainz and Zidan
as Marcelinho showed another bit of magic when he fired
another shot home in the 86th minute to end the game in
a 3-2 victory for the homeside.
