The only goal in the game came after a foul in the box on
Ruman and the referee whistled for a penalty kick for Mainz.
Andreasen was the penalty taker instead of Zidan as the
Egyptian wasted penalty kick in the last match. Andreasen
converted the penalty in the 51st minute to give Mainz the
lead.
In the last quarter of the game, Klopp rested
all his forwards and brought fresh legs on. He kept Zidan
till the 84th minute and then replaced him with Niculae.
Zidan's replacement couldn't offered anything better though
as he wasted a golden chance from a one on one situation
with the goalkeeper in the dying minutes.
With this result, Mainz became 10th in the
table with 30 points from 25 games played.
