Reports suggest that Egyptian striker
Zidan will be transferred pernmanently from Werder Bremen
to Mainz for a fee worth 2.5 Million EUROs. Both clubs
and the player agreed on the transfer details and the
move should be completed before 31st January.
It seems that Zidan will not be at Bremen
anymore and he will leave the club in the current transfer
window. Three Bundesliga clubs showed interest in the
player which are Hamburg, Wolfsburg and Mainz s he expressed
his desire to leave.
However, it seems that Mainz won the race
to sign Zidan permanently as reports from Germany claimed.
According to reports, both clubs agreed to transfer
Zizou permanently to Mainz for a fee worth 2.5 Million
EUROs.
The club technical director Klaus Allofs
who brought Zidan from FCM a few years ago was quoted
on Eurosport saying: "A deal is 99% agreed to transfer
Zidan permanently to Mainz an both parties agreed on
all details".
Despite this, Werder administration is
expected to delay the transfer because of the injury
of the other two forwards Hunt and Klasnic.
It is expected that Zidan will move to
mainz if one of the two injured strikers became fit
before the end of the transfer window. However, Werder
could keep the Egyptian if both strikers needed more
time to recover and also if the club failed to find
a replacement for the Egyptian in this transfer window.
It should be noted that Zidan was loaned to Mainz at start
of the last season and he helped the side to avoid relegation.
However, the situation this season is much worse at Mainz
as the club doesn't have the funds to bring in many quality
players at the time being and their best players left at
the end of last season.
Because of these problems at Mainz, the club
are currently rock bottom at the table and Zizou will have
to help them avoid relegation once again or he will face
a fate similar to Hosni Abd Rabo and Abo Mosallam at Strasbourg.
The Egyptian should hopefully add a relegation
release clause in this contract in order to be able to join
any other club in summer in the case of Mainz relegation.
