Werder Bremen drew with Alemannia Aachen last weekend in the Bundesliga. The Bremen based side was on the verge of a defeat but a late equalizer from Klose put them back on track.

Tonight, Werder achieved a major victory over the English giants Chelsea by a single goal which came through Mertesacker in the 27th minute.

Zidan would get a chance to feature in the big game if he was fit to play, but the Egyptian need some time to get back to the green pitch because of the surgery that he underwent a month ago.

Standings:

Group A Pld Pts
Chelsea 5 10
Bremen 5 10
Barcelona 5 8
Levski 5 0

It should be noted that Bremen's last match in the group stage will be their most difficult one as they face Barcelona in an away clash. On the other side, the group leaders Chelsea will have an easy home fixture as they face Leveski Sofia on the 5th of December.

More on Zidan and Werder soon...
