Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan didn't participate in Werder's home clash with Bayern Leverkusen. On the other side, Klose and Klasnic started the game and Almeida replaced Klasnic in the 2nd half.

Werder Bremen won their 2nd Bundesliga match as they managed to defeat Bayern Leverkusen by two goals to one.

The guests took the lead through a penalty kick which was converted by Freier in the 15th minute while Klose equalized for Werder in the 26th minute.

In the 2nd half, the Portuguese international Almeida came on and replaced Klasnic. The former Porto player managed to score the winning goal for Werder in the 77th minute.
