Egyptian star Mohamed Zidan shined once again and scored a brilliant goal against the Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. The goal was the first for Mainz in the game that ended in a 2-2 draw and the 2nd for Zidan against Bayern Munich this season as the Egyptian scored another goal versus the Bavarians in the DFB Pokal (German Cup).

Zidan, who was doubtful for the game because of a slight injury, played from the start to end and excelled. The Egyptian scored a fine goal, created many chances, hit the post in the 2nd half and almost won the game for Mainz in the dying moments but he was unlucky with the finish.

The Egyptian talented forward played from the start alongside Casey and Michael Thurk in attack. It took him just 9 minutes to give Mainz the lead. The goal came through a long pass to Zidan who controlled the ball well inside the box and dribbled superbly in little space past the German international defender Philipp Lahm and fired s low shot with his left to beat Oliver Kahn and make the score 1-0 for Mainz.

Four minutes later, Mainz defender Marco Friedrich managed to double the lead for Mainz. The goal came through a corner kick from the right wing, Friedrich rose high for the header and headed the ball home before Kahn to make the score 2-0 for the homeside.

Bayern Munich's defense looked confused after the 2nd goal and Zidan was extremely dangerous thanks to his pace and unmatched dribbling skills which made him quite hard to be marked.

In the 37th minute, A great long ball was played to Roy Makaay who was onside and buried the ball home to make the score 2-1.

Just before half time, the referee counted a penalty kick for Bayern Munich and Makaay scored from the spot to make the score 2-2.

In the 2nd half, the score remained unchanged as both sides failed to score any more goals. However, Claudio Pizzaro had a real chance to clinch the win for the Bavarians through a low shot from inside the box, but the ball was just wide.

On the other hand, Zidan shined in more than one situation in this half. The first time came early on when he had the ball in the right side of the box, he trapped the ball well at his feet and laid the ball superbly to the oncoming Chariots Babatz who shot over the bar.

Zidan also hit the post in the 2nd half when he got the ball in the right side of the box and managed to trick his marker and to shoot from narrow angle at goal, the shot was denied by the post but it was a clear evidence for Zidan's massive talent.

In the last minutes of the game, Zidan wasted a real chance to win the game for Mainz. The Egyptian dribbled past his opponent in the left wing and laid the ball on the edge of the area to the substitute Ruman who laid it back to the onside Zizou on the edge of the six yards box, the Egyptian tried to bury the ball into the far corner but he missed the target and the chance went begging.
