Egyptian star Mohamed Zidan led
Mainz to the quarter finals of the German cup (DFB Pokal)
as they managed to defeat Kaiserslautern 4-3 after a
penalty shoot-out. The original and extra time ended
in a 1-1 draw and Zidan did very well in the match.
No only this, the Egyptian also scored the 5th spot
kick to keep Mainz hopes in the shoot-out alive as they
managed to win it in the end.

The original time ended in a 1-1 draw as Engelhardt
gave Kaiserslautern the lead in the 29th minute from
a powerful header while Mainz equalized in the 62nd
minute through through a perfectly executed freekick
by Da Silva.
As the first 90 minutes ended in a draw, both teams
played an extra time in order to decide the winner from
the cup match. However, the score remained 1-1 till
the end of the 2nd extra time and a penalty shoot-out
decided the winning team.
