The French midfielder/forward Johan Micoud is one of Werder Bremen's key players. The newspaper reporterd that Zian considers him as his older brother and likes to listen to his advice.

The newspaper published the special article under the title of: "The young striker and his big brother" and it describes how Zidan and Micoud became friends in a short period of time. EP presents an English version of the article:

The Young striker and his big brother

Mohamed Zidan appreciates Johan Micoud very much and hopes to advance at Werder with his help.

Johan Micoud lives in a single room in the Golf hotel of Noderney. But that doesn't mean that he might be called a loner. You couldn't ask him, if he was one, because he doesn't talk to the German press anymore. But you could ask Mohamed Zidan. As Mohamed Zidan, the young Egyptian, and the French playmaker became friends during the last weeks. The Egyptian striker says "I like listening to him" about the frenchman and that "he's like an older brother to me".

Just a few days ago they were watching a DVD together, of course about football, and, indeed, about Zidane. About Zinedine Zidane, the even bigger frenchman. How great this sounds: The Weser-Zidane and the striker Zidan watch a movie concerning the original Zidane. Afterwards they talked a bit about the movie. Especially about Zidane's philosophy, that consists basically of three thigs. Zidan names them: respect, hard work and seriousness.

That really impressed him. "Joe is a big player with a lot of experience. I like what he's telling me". You can also see Micoud and Zidan training and talking toghether on the training pitch of Norderney.

"He sees a lot of small things, that I do not mention yet, and that helps me", says Mohamed Zidan about the big brother.

Micoud himself already was amazed by Zidan in the training camp in Turkey back in january: "He is a young, ambitious player with a lot of potential". Micoud compares his outer apperance and his way of playing with the one of young David Trezeguet. "It gives me a lot that he says something like that", explains Zidan.

He (Zidan)wantes to get rid of the status of a "talent" as fast as possible. He was a big player in Denmark, nearly as well known as Micoud in Germany. When Werder loaned the Egyptian in winter and bought him finally in early spring, he was one of the most expensive players in the club's history. Werder paid more than 3 million Euros. But the striker didn't make it into the starting team after a few fast goals as a substitute.

Does the high transfer fee depress him? "No, there's no pressure", says Zidan. He mentions the four year contract and that he would get his chances soon. He accepts, when he is not in the starting eleven, by now. At least, what is more important: His ankle, that prevented him from reaching his topform, doesn't hurt any more. And now he has got an experienced teacher on his side.
