Greek club Olympiakos have declared that
they're interested in FC Midtjylland's Egyptian wizard
Mohamed Zidan.
"I've
seen him, and I'm in shock"
Those words are the headline of Greece's biggest sports
newspapers "Fos Ton Spor". It's a newspaper
with a circulation of 34,000 copies that is primarily
for Olympiakos supporters.
The quote is said by Takis Lemonis, the former Olympiakos
manager who is now a scout to the club, and remains
close to Olympiakos.
The article about Zidan explains how Olympiakos are
expected to bring a new player into the team very shortly,
and one of the hottest names is Mohamed Zidan. A possible
move would pair Zidan with World Cup winner and 1999
FIFA player of the year Rivaldo. The headline in the
newspaper is supplemented with a large photo of Mohamed
Zidan.
According to the article, Olympiakos' poor economic
situation is the biggest hindrance to Zidan's arrival
in the Greek championship club.

"Well, it does sound very exciting for Zidan", says
FC Midtjylland's Sports Director Jens Orgaard, when told about
the article in the Greek newspaper.
"There is a great deal of interest in Zidan at the current
time, but apart from that, I don't really have further comments
on this matter."
When asked whether he had spoken to anyone from Olympiakos,
he replied, very vaguely, "I don't wish to make a comment
on whether I've been in talks with certain clubs or not."
Conclusively, when asked if FCM ever talked to Olympiakos,
he said, "I don't really remember," while laughing
mildly.
