Wigan Athletic announced today the signature of Egyptian
striker Amr Zaki and the deal made the headlines in
the British press.
"I've come to England to score goals," Zaki
said. "That's what I do. I want to show the manager
and the fans of Wigan that they have made a good choice
and now I am totally focused on trying to get in the
squad and prove myself here. The Egyptian added.
On the other hand, the Laics boss Steve Bruce is over
the moon with the move. "It has been a tough deal
to push through but I am delighted that Amr's finally
a Wigan player and he can just get on with the job"
The 25 year old had scored 27 goals in 48 appearances for
Egypt and Bruce believes that such a record means that Zaki
will be a success at Wigan.
"Anyone with that kind of strike rate in international
football knows where the back of the net is," said Bruce.
"The supporters will love him because he is a passionate
boy who plays with his heart on his sleeve. He is all-action,
physically powerful, great in the air with two good feet and
a good turn of pace".
Many English news sources and websites focused on the fact
that Zaki is ranked as FIFA's most prolific striker by goals.
Hopefully, Zaki willbe able to be one of the Premier League's
top strikers during his loan spell as well.
