EP EXCLUSIVE:
Ahmed Morsy, just turned 21 years of age, plays in the
lower divisions of Italy, hoping to reach the very top.
Few people know that he is an Egyptian that has played
in Serie B.
Note: In the past, EP presented another man
in Italy, Ahmed Sarwat,
as well as Murad Hikmet in Turkey.

Ahmed Morsy is a striker or left winger,
186 centimetres in height, 80 kilograms in weight, currently
playing below Serie C, in SP Mentana. The league is
one of fierce competition and allows a number of clubs
to promote to Serie C per season.
The Egyptian left his homeland at the age of 16 with
his father for a new life in Italy.
Morsy, known as Zico, is so enthusiastic to play football
regularly that he even left his former club in Serie
B in order to get playing time with the senior sides.
To add to this, he has had interest in him from a number
of teams, but he chose what he thinks is the best option.
Morsy, born in November 1983, was at Tristeina of Serie
B last season. "I left them [Tristeina] because
I would have stayed in the Under-21's," he said
to EgyptianPlayers.com.
Zico was selected in the Tristeina Serie B team half
a dozen times and featured for them, but was constantly
one of the main men for the Under-21 outfit, scoring
a healthy number of goals in his many selections.
He continued, "My chances there were small though,
because they bought a player from Serie A in my position,
so I wouldn't have enough chance in the first team."
During his starring role at the Under-21 side, a Serie
A club began talks with Morsy. However, he had to have
an operation close to the date and any deal possibilities
were halted.

After realising that it was not the right place for
him to develop, he looked at his many alternatives.
"There were three other clubs interested. Foggia
of Serie C, Padova of Serie C and Avelino of Serie B."
He added, "And there was also someone that wanted
to take me to Lecce (Serie A), but it didn't work out."
EP posed the obvious question of why Morsy didn't join
a Serie B or C side, but chose one that has to work
for promotion to Serie C.
Morsy answered, "Because Mentana are a tough team
and my chance in it is stronger."
The manager also had an effect on his decision, "By
the way my manager is called Kasilano, and he used to
manage Pescare of Serie B, and he knows me well and
so I chose SP Mentana.
"I am also the youngest striker at the club, and
they call me Trezeguet here!"
He commenced, "We play 4-4-3, and I play left forward,
and I'm always one of the three strikers."
Ahmed Morsy told EP that he is looking to sort his club
career out, and that any national team is realistically
not yet an achievable aim for him.
"I have a feeling that my chances are brilliant
with this manager inshallah. He plays me regularly and
my abilities are always improving."
He confidently concluded, "From this club, I will
play in Serie A soon inshallah..."
Morsy has played most games so far this season, and
was amidst friendly games against top Italian clubs.
Should he get closer to his hopes, EP will keep you
