EP reveals Another Unnoticed Talent!

Date: 23-10-2004

EXCLUSIVE: EP is happy to reveal that Mido is not the only Egyptian playing in Italy. We were given a tip about a hot talent currently booming in the city of Torino.

Sarwat with Pro Vercelli squad

EP investigated the case and we are happy to present Ahmed Sarwat (19) a player many sees as talented and as skillful as Hazem Emam.

We called Ahmed and tried to let him do the talking so he can introduce himself to the Egyptian media for the first time.

He speaks good Arabic with an accent despite being born and raised in Italy; he comes on yearly bases to Alexandria, Egypt.

EP: Ahmed …tell us when did you start playing football and where are you now?

As: I started playing around 10 years ago, I live in Turin in northern Italy, my first club was an AC Milan satellite club then I moved to Pro Vercelli which is a bigger and a professional club. Then last year I moved to FC Robbio and I am playing there till now.

EP: tell us more about FC Robbio?

AS: We are currently 6th in our division after 7 games. The division is of 18 teams where the winner gets an automatic promotion to play in Serie C/2 and the 2nd till 6th gets a chance to play in the play offs where the first 2 might get a chance to promote as well.

EP: what's is your position in the team and what about your record with them?

AS: I played the whole 7 games as a starter and I can play as an attacker or as a winger due to my pace and dribbling skills.

EP: do you think you have what it takes to make it to the big leagues?

AS: I don't know but I think I can…well lots of friends went all the way to Serie A. I can point out Cracciolo who was a Pro Vercelli player and a friend who managed to sign a deal with Brescia in Serie A. Others are playing in Serie B and I think I can do that..

EP: what does your manager think of your future?

AS: well. They say that we the young players have a chance to go and play for bigger teams. I love football and I always play with my heart. I am studying Economy in college but Football will be my first option career wise.

EP: what are your favorite teams and players in Italy?

As: Ss any Torino citizen of course its Juventus and my favorite player will have to be Camoranesi.

EP: now to the big question…if given the chance to play for the Egyptian youth team, Will you accept?

AS: It's my dream…My father always told me that this is right thing to do. We are Egyptians in heart. My first passport was Egyptian and I love Egypt.

EP: tell us what is your point of strength as a player?

AS: physically I am 178 cm tall and 70 kg and I am known for my pace and being a good dribbler, I always love to run a lot and never settle in a place on the green.

EP: what's your opinion of Mido?

AS: I was delighted when he signed for Rome but I noticed that when he first came the press was talking about him a lot specially that he made some good assists in his first games,. But now they rarely mention him. Maybe due to the injury that he suffered.

EP: we wish you the best and we will keep tracking you.

AS: thanks EP for your interest.

EP comment: Ahmed Sarwat is another Egyptian youngster in Europe. Although he didn't make it yet to a bigger club, the Egyptian youth team staff should keep an eye on him as he may develop into a star in the future.

Note: Sarwat is not the only Egyptian player in Italy's lower divisions. EP already interviewed another Egyptian in the Italian leagues and will present him soon.
