EXCLUSIVE: Rami
Shaaban is back to club football. The 29 year old signed
for First Division English side Brighton, and played
his first game for the team today.
When Brighton goalkeeper Ben Roberts earlier
this week hurt his knee, the club went on the hunt for
a keeper. After trialing at the club, Rami Shaaban was
an obvious choice, with his experience of playing at
a higher level.
Shaaban spoke to EP ahead of his first game, saying
"I have been training with them for a while. I
will play the game tomorrow [Saturday] against Sunderland.
It will be very funny because I haven't played a competetive
game for a long time."
The deal made sees Rami signing a 'one-game contract',
but Brighton are keen to sign a longer contract if all
goes well..
Shaaban understands that this may seem a step 'back'
if one were to look at his career, but commented on
the move saying, "Sometimes you have to take a
step back to take two forward, and that's what I'm doing
at the moment.

"They want to sign me but I'm not sure yet. I might sign
until the rest of the season so I get some games," he
added.
Brighton Win Rami Debut
Brighton beat promotion candidates Sunderland 2-1 in what
was Rami's debut for the team. This result puts Brighton in
15th place in the Championship, 6 points clear of the relegation
bunch, but with a very poor goal difference. EP will have
a full report on Shaaban's first game soon....
Coffee with Mido
On onother note, Shaaban was also spending time in England
socialising with a certain other Egyptian professional.
"I had coffee with Mido on Thursday and it was nice.
I hadn't met him since he moved to play for Tottenham."
