EXCLUSIVE:
Rami Shaaban has told EP that German Bundesliga 2 side
FC. Saarbrucken are still interested in his services,
and that he is now awaiting their decision over the
contract offer. He also said, however, that other teams
may come into the scene and put an offer forward, although
nothing official has yet reached him from them.
Shaaban had previously told EP that he
was taking time over the Christmas period to think about
the offer put forward by FC. Saarbrucken. It seems that
there has been some progress, but that the two parties
are yet to agree. The goalkeeper is waiting to see if
the German club, currently 6th and battling for promotion
to the top flight, are willing to agree on his terms.
"Saarbrucken are still interested," he told
EP. "But it's up to them now to decide what to
do."
Shaaban had been on trial at the club and had impressed
club officials, although they had been honest with him
in telling him that he would have to wait till next
season for first team football. The current goalkeeper
is described as a 'legend' at the club, and will retire
this year.

This fact may attract Shaaban to other offers if they come
about, and he told EP that there is interest, although he
has not yet received any official word.
"There is interest from France and maybe England, but
I'm used to hearing through agents that teams are interested,"
the player told EP.
Shaaban is cool on this talk, and it is likely that he will
only let more concrete offers affect his decision on Saarbrucken.
"I don't take it seriously until they have something
on the table."
