Exclusive: Rami Shaaban told EP that his trial at
Norwegian side Lillestrom was positive, and that it
could lead to a potential move. The goalkeeper has been
away from first team football for significant time now,
and this could be his chance to get back to action.
Shaaban has been looking for a club since
being released by English champions Arsenal at the end
of last season. He underwent a number of trials, namely
at St. Etienne and Leeds United, but was unable to attain
a move which would keep his priority of first team football
intact. Last week he attended a trial at Norwegian club
Lillestrom, and it seems that a move is likely if he
is promised a starting berth.
Shaaban, currently with his family in Sweden told EP
of the trial saying, "I went to Norway to meet
a friend who lives in Oslo and I was training with a
team called Lillestrom.

"I had good feelings about it," he added.
Shaaban sees first team football as his aim, and he declared
"For me, at this stage it is important to go to a team
where the coach believes in me and I get games, so that I
can get on the right track again."
It seems as though the Lillestrom officials will grant Rami
his wish of first team football, and even if the Norwegian
League is not Shaaban's target, he may see it as a positive
stepping stone, where he can get much needed action.
It is expected that both parties will meet soon to discuss
terms. "I have spoken to the coach and he wants me, but
we have to sit down and negotiate to see if we find an agreement
financially and socially."
Lillestrom finished the season, which has just ended, in
mid-table, seventh of fourteen teams in the Norwegian Eliteserien.
