EXCLUSIVE: Rami Shaaban has become a free agent, and is seeking a new club this summer after being released by the English Champions. EP spoke to the Egyptian goalkeeper to get the latest about his future.

Rami Shaaban's time at Arsenal cannot be regarded as unsuccessful, as he has made a name for himself through the few appearances he made with the first team during his first season. These few appearances were impressive and did no harm in enhancing the keeper's reputation. However, his injury problem was an unlucky blow, which limited his chances of first team action for the remainder of his time at the club.

After Shaaban appeared on the first team bench a number of times this season, but saw no action, Arsenal saw it in the interest of the club and the player that he be released. Wenger is said to have told the goalkeeper that he is too good to be sitting on the bench and that he should seek a club where he can play first team football.

EP asked Shaaban about his plans for the near future. The keeper suggested that there has been interest but that it is unknown how long it could be for a move to materialise.

"I have no offers on the table at the moment but there is a lot of interest. From that to something concrete could be as far away as it could be very soon."

Shaaban also promised to let EP know when there is clarification on his future destination. It is worth noting that the Egyptian keeper had previously told EP that his preferred move would be to another English club, as his family has settled in the country.
