Having won the Premier League title, with still four
games remaining, the Gunners are likely to give Egyptian
keeper Rami Shaaban a chance to prove his worth. The
player's contract runs out in the summer, and Wenger
is set to give him a chance to convince the club that
he deserves a new contract.
Shaaban's contract expires this summer
and so it is expected that Wenger wants to see him in
competitive action before thinking about a new deal.
Rami Shaaban made a few comments to Swedish media regarding
this...
"I have talked with the boss and it is not impossible
that I will get the chance soon," said Shaaban.
"Since my contract expires at the end of June,
Wenger has said that he wants to see me in a match before
we continue with the negotiations.
"For me, it is just a matter of waiting and seeing."
However, Rami is also aware that he may not be able
to secure a new deal, and as he said to EP previously,
he has informed his agent to search for suitable clubs.
Rami continued, "If I do not get a new deal with
Arsenal, it is not the end of the world."
