Gillingham in talks with Rami

English First Division club Gillingham are in talks with Egyptian goalkeeper Rami Shaaban. The club want to bring him on loan for a month as the Hammers did earlier this season. The news was confirmed by Sky Sports PlanetFootball and the player-manager of the club confirmed that they have asked Rami's current club about him.

Gillingham's number one Jason Brown is unavailable to play after suffering an injury not so long ago. This has caused a goalkeeping problem at the club. For this reason, Gillingham are looking to loan Rami Shaaban.

The player-manager said, "We are speaking with Arsenal about Shaaban. We want to sign him up for a month's loan but they want it to be until the end of the season. I'm not sure about that, but we'll see what we can do."
He added, "We can't rely on just the one keeper - if he gets injured, we are really struggling."

It seems Shaaban will go only if he is guaranteed to play, after he didn't see action for West Ham United when he was on loan there. Whether the one month loan will take place is not certain, and Arsenal may reject such a small loan, so Rami doesn't get any more unsettled.

It should be noted that Gillingham are currently in 20th place in the First Division but with a win in their match in hand they will jump up to 16th. They have shown to be a club with potential, and from Rami's perspective, getting games under his belt will be the most important thing.
