When asked about his situation regarding
his international options, Shaaban, now at Norwegian
side Fredrikstad, told EP that he had been "waiting
for this question to come up".
Rami confirmed that Sweden are indeed tracking his progress.
He continued, "Sweden have contacted me regarding
the World Cup in Germany, but they are following me
until the squad is presented".
However, the Egyptian national team has not made any
such approach. "When it comes to Egypt, I haven't
heard anything," Shaaban added. Without making
it clear where his heart would lie if he did receive
a similar appeal from Egyptian national team staff,
Rami did imply that a call from Egypt would be welcome.

Regarding his domestic football in Norway, Shaaban stated,
"I need more games and now I'm playing week in, week
out, so that's good for me". Surely more action will
be good for his club football, and his chances of success
at international level.
