EXCLUSIVE: Goalkeeper
Rami Shaaban will return to action in a few hours, aiming
to show he still has what it takes to be play at the
top level. Not for the first time, he describes his
move to Norway as a stepping stone from which he can
move back to bigger things. He spoke to EgyptianPlayers.com
before getting ready for the first game of the season.

Shaaban started by expressing his delight
at Egypt's African Cup of Nations victory. "I was
so happy for Egypt," he said to EgyptianPlayers.com.
"I was proud too see them win, especially with
the finals in Egypt."
He himself is ready for action, but knows that he is
not at full fitness compared to his time at Arsenal.
"When it comes to me, we are almost finished with
our long pre-season.
"Here it is three months of hard work but I can't
complain.
"I need this to get back to my old fitness. I
have been training very hard."

His new club FFK are on form in their preparations but their
league campaign only kicks off today. "We have been in
Spain twice, played Shakhtar Donetsk, Spartak Moscow and Skonto
Riga, and won all three games, so we are doing pretty well.
But we start our first game on the 10th of April inshallah
(God willing) and that is what counts."
Rami continued: "The town (Fredrikstad) is pretty small
but it has its good sides as well. People are so friendly
and it's a good stepping stone for me to get out to the big
clubs when I have more games under my belt."
