The League One outfit, (two divisions below the Premiership), have offered the Egyptian goalkeeper a trial. Once again though, a trial may prove to mean little, as clubs in the past have found alternatives or Rami has not been impressed by their training facilities.

But Robins boss Gary Johnson has high hopes of signing Rami Shaaban. "Rami has a great build for a goalkeeper and to have played for Arsenal speaks for itself," he said.

"Over the next few of days, we will have a look at him and he can take a look at us," added the coach.

Bristol City lie in the relegation zone of League One, and have so far had the worst back-line in the league by a long way, conceding over 30 goals in their 16 appearances.
