As EP reported a few days ago, former
manager of Mido and Zaki at Wigan Steve Bruce left the
club to join Sunderland. Such move maybe due to his
frustration after failing to keep Palacios, Valenccia
and Zaki in his squad next season.
It is now official that Wigan manager
Steve Bruce has left the club, to take up Sunderland's
manager position.
Such a move can be due to his frustration
after failing to keep his best players at Wigan. The
manager brought Palacios to the club and lost him to
Tottenham in the January transfer window. he also had
to sell Emile Heskey in the same transfer window while
his star player, Valencia is expected to leave this
summer as well. In addition to this, Bruce failed to
sign Amr Zaki permanently from Zamalek.
The departure of Bruce from Wigan can
also be an evidence that the manager's accusations to
Zaki weren't the main reason beyond the club decision
not to sign the Egyptian as he claimed. It appears that
Bruce wanted to sign Zaki permanently but the latter
club asked for alot more than Wigan can afford. As a
result, Bruce knew that Wigan won't do well next season
without their best players and accepted the Black Cats
offer.
This move could also have an effect on Mido as Bruce
is one of Mido's admirers. The formar Wigan manager
brought the Boro striker in January to replace Heskey
and it won't be a surprise if he tried to sign him again
at Sunderland, especially after Boro's relegation.
