Wigan manager Steve Bruce is confident
of the positive impact that Mido can make if he improves
his fitness levels. The Wigan boss praised his 26 year
old Egyptian striker after Wigan's 0-1 away win over
Sunderland.
Bruce told the Evening Post: "Mido
is getting better, I thought he did very well on his
own up front against Sunderland.
"The major thing for the big fella is getting
him out there on the pitch and keeping him in the right
condition.
Bruce added that he is confident of Mido's ability.
However, he hinted that the fitness levels of the Egyptians
needs to improve.
"There is no question about his ability
- we all know he has got plenty of that. It is his fitness
levels which we need to keep improving.
"That will come with regular training, and there
are times when he could do with his own personal conditioner,
a bit like Chris Kirkland has. We will look at going
down that route.
"The good thing about Mido is that everything
we have suggested to him, he has agreed with and done.
There is loads more in his locker the fitter he gets,
that's for sure.
"You saw what he did at Sunderland, it's hard
when a striker plays on his own, but their two central
defenders knew they'd been in a game."
