Middlesbrough's midfielder Didier
Digard suffered an injury that will keep him out of
action till end of season. This means that Shawky will
see more action with Boro in the coming weeks.
Shawky will likely see more action with
Boro in the coming weeks. This is mainly due to the
injury of his teammate Digard who had to leave the pitch
injured in Boro's 0-0 home draw with Wigan.
Digard was fouled by the former Boro midfielder
Lee Cattermole. Everyone saw the challenge fair but
it resulted in a serious injury for the Frenchman. It
is estimated that Digard will be back to action after
three months which means that the season is over for
him.
A visit to a specialist confirmed a partial
rupture to the quadriceps muscle in his left leg and
a tear to the medial ligament in his right knee.
It should be noted that Shawky declared that he will
not stay at Boro at end of season. He didn't feature
in Boro's latest match and wasn't even on bench. However,
the injury of Digard means that Southgate will be forced
to give the Egyptian more playing time in the upcoming
matches.
