Mido won praise after his solid display in the 45 minutes that he played at Craven Cottage on Saturday. Despite the 3-0 loss, Southgaate praised the striker and there is a big possibility that he will start the next match versus Everton on Boxing day. On the other hand, Boro fans expressed their disappointment of Mohamed Shawky's lackluster performance in the same match.

Praising Mido for his solid performance, Southgate said: “I was pleased with the impact that Mido made.

“That was what we needed. It was just a pity that we couldn’t make better use of it, because the second goal killed the momentum we had created.”

According to latest reports, a fit Mido will be ahead of Afonso Alves in the picking order for next weekend clash with Everton.

In addition to this, Mido's solid performances, goals and the physical presence that he offers when he is on the pitch, will make it harder for Southgate to let the Egyptian leave in January:

Southgate sees Mido as integral part of the squad and wishes that he can help the troubled side to climb back into the table to move away from the danger zone.

On the other side, the fans expressed their anger over the past 3-0 defeat. The club forums were full of criticizm to the defense, Southgate and Mohamed Shawky as well. The fans claimed that Shawky didn't add anything positive to the team since his arrival and claimed that Boro suffered alot by losing Digard who is currently out with a groin strain injury.

Next weekend clash with Everton will witness the return of the midfielder Gary O’Neil and so, Shawky might find himself on the bench once again.
