Boro drew at home with Arsenal by a goal
each. Adebayor headed home to give the Gunners the lead
but a diving healder from Arsenal former forward Aliadiere
made the score 1-1. Mido wasn't selected for the game
as he was suffering from groin problems as always. On
the other hand, Shawky started the game on bench and
replaced Digard in the 2nd half.
Shawky recovered from his three weeks injury and returned
to Middlesbrough's squad, He remained on bench till
the 60th minute when he started warming up.
Shawky came on for Digard in the 88th minutes , Gareth
Southgate wanted a player who can give depth in midfield
for the team and Mohamed Shawky was the right option
for him. He made the best of the few minutes given to
him with few accurate passes.
Shawky's speedy come-back shows how Gareth Southgate
trusts him and depends on him in the main squad setu
, as Shawky's return to the squad after his injury didn't
take more than one week without participating in any
of the previous games with the reserve team .
Middlesbrough can be happy with this home draw with
Arsenal, and they can prepare for next week's trip to
London against Fulham with a pretty good morale .
