Mido spoke ahead of this noon's clash
with Sunderland. He is eager to score and willing to
help the side improve their poor away form. He also
stressed that he will do his best to remain in the starting
eleven.
"Goals give you confidence and I
feel I'm playing well at the moment," said Mido.
"I'm glad that I'm finding the back of the net
but it would mean a lot more if we start winning these
tight matches.
"I knew it was always going to be
difficult for me to get in the side after the way Afonso
and Tuncay finished the season but now I have my chance
and it is up to me to deliver the goods.
"The manager says if I come in and do well then
I will start games. Well now the shirt is mine and I
want to keep it all season."
Mido: Southgate convinced me to stay
"The manager has handled it very well. First of
all he convinced me to stay here and laid down the gauntlet
to prove myself and grab my chance.
"I think I have done this and I cannot wait for
the Sunderland game."
"I think we have a much better team this season
than last year. Yes we have a young squad, yes we don't
have a big squad but we have the quality.
We have to improve away form:
"We need to improve our away performances, starting
with the game today. The last six months hasn't been
great. We have to know why we aren't getting results
on our travels so we will start with the derby.
"It's a big game for us and we will be going all
out to win and send the fans home happy."
