UPDATED:
Mido's teammate striker at Boro, Tuncay Sanli suffered
an injury in the Turkey vs Belgium match. The extent
of injury is not clearly known but some sources reported
it as a knee injury that forced him to leave the pitch
after just 13 minutes from the kick off. On the other
hand, it seems that Mido will be the most fit striker
anyway to play alongside Alves on Saturday.
Middlesbrough striker and Turkey international
Tuncay Sanli had to come off Turkey's World Cup qualifying
match versus Belgium after just 13 minutes from the
kick off.
The Turkish international clashed knees
with a Belgium player and couldn't continue. EP's reporter
in Turkey confirmed that the injury is a knee injury
and according to Turkish Radio, Tuncay will be out for
a month but there is nothing serious.
It is known as Afonso Alves and Tuncay
are the main striking force of Boro and this injury
means that Mido's time has come to show what he can
do.
The Egyptian will now play alongside Alves,
a thing that never happened before this season as Mido
always replaced Alves and played together with Tuncay
at front.
If Mido is fit at the time being, then he will surely
play versus Portsmouth on Saturday from the start.
Aside from this news, Mido's compatriot
Mohamed Shawky will be out for three weeks following
his groin injury. This will give Digard a chance to
start alongside O'Neil. This might make things harder
for Shawky to get back to first team after recovering
from injury as Digard and O'Neil could fit well together
in midfield. In addition to this, the other midfielder
Arca is expected to be fit again in the coming few days
and the latter is a key member of the team already.
EP wish Tuncay a speedy recovery and hope
that Mido can do well in the coming month which will
give him a chance of a lifetime to prove himself in
the starting lineup.
