"I had a very good chat with him on Friday. He's
a very emotional lad and he wants to play. He obviously
feels that having scored three goals in three games,
more than in all of last season, he deserves the right
to start. I can't argue with that too much.
"My own feeling is that he got a couple of those
goals because of the impact he made coming off the bench.
He'll get his opportunity very soon."
Regarding Wigan's offer, Southgate said: "There
was a call from Steve Bruce but it was all a bit tentative
and dependent on other things happening.
In my opinion it was just a case of them covering their
bases in case something else happened at their end."
So in the end, Mido will be part of Southgate's plans
in the coming weeks, he will try to play the Egyptian
as starter annd will have to keep the Egyptian happy.
Otherwise, Mido knows ehere he can go in the winter
transfer window...
