Middlesbrough will have to overcome Manchester United if they wanted to qualify to the 4th round of Carling Cup. Despite this, the fans are optimistic they the Boro side can make it to the next round.

It is known that the big four clubs in the Premiership don't give much care to Carling Cup due to their participation in much more important Champions League. For this reason, the top four play their reserves with a few players from the first team in these matches.

On the other hand, a midtable team like Boro have bigger desire to go far in the Carling cup and will play their main team in this competition.

History reveals that Manchester United lost to Coventry City and Southend United in the last couple of seasons and both of them are not a Premiership level.

2007/08

3rd Round Man Utd 0-2 Coventry

2006/07

4th Round Southend 1-0 Man Utd

2005/06

Final Man Utd 4-0 Wigan

2004/05

Semi Man Utd 1-2 Chelsea

2003/04

4th Round West Brom 2-0 Man Utd

Hopefully, both Mido and Shawky can help Boro defeat their tough opponent and make it to the 4th round.

On the other side, Zaki's Wigan will face a Championship side (Ipswich) in the same round. the match could be easy on paper but in reality, Ipswich can be very tough on their home soil. Hopefully, Zaki will help his side overcome Ipswich in the upcoming Carling Cup clash.

Ratings for Mido, Shawky, Zaki and Zidan after this weekend matches:

Egyptian star Amr Zaki is currently the in the top 20 list of Premier league players according to SkySports' experts. They give each player a rating from 1-10 according to his performance in each Premiershi pmatch. After three matches, Zaki is currently 8/10 which puts him 15th in the list of highest rated Premiership players.

According to fans, Zaki is even better, the Egyptian is 2nd rated Premiership player so far according to the fans with 8.8/10 in three matches.

Zaki was also chosen as man on match by almost all newspapers and football websites. SkySports gave him 9/10 rating while fans gave him 9.6/10.

Mido wasn't on for much time to receive a fair rating but he got 6/10 in his game yesterday and so did Shawky. The fans see Shawky as a solid and useful player in midfield but some of them think that he has to work on his passing as the Egyptian gave away posession often especially in the opening 20 minutes of the match versus Stoke City.

Last but not least, Mohamed Zidan didn't leave a great impression despite his side's 0-1 win over Cottbus on yesterday's afternoon. The game was pretty tough with very little spaces left and takcking was hard. Zidan had trouble coping to the match pace and when he tried to beat his man with skill or pace, things didn't work well on his side. The Egyptian received a low rating for the match against Cottbus as he played from the start and was taken off in the 63rd minute.
